To keep Buckmore Park Scout Campsite running smoothly we rely on a team of dedicated volunteers that fulfil a wide range of tasks throughout the year.
There is a never ending list of jobs that need to be done all through the year. In the Autumn the leaves need to be cleared off of the camping sites, Trees need to be trimmed back where necessary to keep rides and tracks open. In the Spring everything needs to be checked to make sure that all is ready for the new camping season. All year round there are jobs such as Litter Picking, cutting back overgrown trees and undergrowth. Checking the wider site for trees that have been brought down by the wind, especially those that get caught up and are therefore very dangerous!
Toilets need to be clean and kept well stocked with materials, so they need checking after each camping weekend and replenished where necessary.
The Campsite is going through a period of development to meet the needs of our Campsite Users in line with our Development Plan. This means that as well as the normal maintenance tasks we also have a number of construction projects to resource.
We are working hard to improve our campsites up opening up the canopy around them to encourage vegetation growth on the campsites.
