Like others on the team I became a member of Scouting on reaching may 8th Birthday and have enjoyed all it offers to young people and adults working with young people ever since.
My First camp at Buckmore was in 1966 when as a Cub Instructor with the 8th Dartford we ran a Pack Holiday in the old asbestos buildings which now sit somewhere under the M2 motorway.
Since that time and many camps later I find myself one of the trustees to the campsite and part of a group of people who have effected probably the biggest change in Buckmore’s history, the change of status from a tenant on land Scouting rented, to Medway Towns now having the ownership of the Freehold of the Site.
Secured for the future.
